Planning Your Wedding Flowers: Advice From Us Florists
We've got weddings on our mind- how about you?
Extensive thought and planning go into visualizing the creative direction of a wedding, but there is so much inspiration available online it can be challenging to even know where to begin!
Our advice? Turn inward before you start to peruse what other people have done for their weddings. Is there a color palette that you identify with? Are you a maximalist or a minimalist? Are you more drawn to big dramatic shapes or lots of texture? Figure out what really makes your heart sing, and then go from there.

As a studio that incorporates a lot of seasonal blooms in our work, we can never guarantee a particular flower for any client. That said, we always go above and beyond when it comes to making arrangements and installations that closely match the vision a couple has shared with us. Additionally, because a photo is worth a thousand words and floral arrangements can be challenging to describe, we also always love to see inspiration photos. Communicating stylistic details can really help us understand what exactly it is that you're dreaming of for your wedding, while also not being so specific that it limits our creative ability to put together the best possible pieces for you!
Looking for a little direction?
We’re always on the other end here, closely reading design requests, ordering the right flowers, arranging them in just the right way, carefully packing them up and sending them off to a wedding venue. But just in case you’re still looking for some fresh ideas, we thought you might like to hear from the source itself- your florists! To mix it up we asked our designers what they would choose to design, if they could put together a fantasy wedding for an imaginary couple.
So what do our florists fantasize about designing for their imaginary dream wedding clients?
Alex: The weirder the better, while still showing some restraint. Ikebana-style arrangements incorporating piles and piles of bright orange marigolds (greenery left on the stem) paired with soft pastel blue delphinium and cascading chartreuse green hanging amaranthus. Le freak, c’est chic.
Danielle: Fun, grassy meadowcore. Weird and flowy- picture an open field semi-circle ceremony with piles of grasses coming up from the ground with cosmos sprinkled in.
Anna: Tropicals! Abundant and lush with lots of bright green leaves, orchids, and exotic fruits. And possibly a live tiger.
Laurie: As many bud vases as possible, rich colour. Fresh fruit dispersed throughout!
Janet: Spirea growing from the ground, and cascading clouds of smokebush billowing down and mixing with the floor pieces. Outdoors, somehow. Possibly sweet peas added throughout.
Grey: Dark and romantic, but also whimsical aspects. Very airy, with a focus on roses.
Taejah: Elegant, mostly all white, clean and minimalist. Touches of vivid greenery to break it up a bit!
